The UK has opened its first geothermal power plant in Cornwall. This plant uses heat from deep underground to make electricity.
The company drilled three miles down into the ground. Hot water from the rocks helps turn turbines. These turbines make electricity for 10,000 homes. The plant also produces lithium, an important mineral for batteries.
This type of energy is always available, day and night. It is different from wind and solar power. The project cost £50 million and took 15 years to complete.
