The Louvre is a famous museum in Paris. It is one of the most visited museums in the world. Laurence des Cars was the director of the Louvre. She left her job recently.
On October 19 last year, thieves stole valuable jewels from the museum. They used a special lift on a vehicle to climb into the building. They took eight pieces of jewelry worth 88 million euros. The thieves dropped one crown and it broke. Police caught four people, but the jewels are still missing.
Des Cars said the museum's security cameras were old and weak. The museum has more than 8.7 million visitors every year, but it did not have enough money for good security. President Macron said the museum needs a new leader to make it safer and better.
