Disney and Pixar have unveiled a new trailer for Toy Story 5, the latest installment in the acclaimed animated franchise that has captivated audiences since 1995. The film marks the return of iconic characters Buzz Lightyear and Woody, who face a contemporary threat to their relevance: Lilypad, a frog-like tablet computer with "disruptive ideas" about what is best for their owner, Bonnie.
The trailer highlights an emotionally charged reunion between Buzz and Woody, following the latter's departure in Toy Story 4 to assist abandoned toys. "It's been too long cowboy," declares Buzz, voiced once again by Tim Allen, as he embraces a now slightly balding Woody, portrayed by Tom Hanks. The duo quickly reverts to their characteristic dynamic, engaging in the playful bickering that defined their early relationship.
The film features returning favorites including Joan Cusack as Jessie, John Ratzenberger as Hamm, and Keanu Reeves as Duke Kaboom. Notable newcomers include Greta Lee voicing Lilypad, Craig Robinson as Atlas (a cheerful GPS hippo toy), and Conan O'Brien as Smarty Pants. The franchise, which pioneered computer-animated filmmaking and has grossed over $3 billion worldwide, continues to explore themes of friendship and adaptation. With the tagline "Times may change but friends are forever," Toy Story 5 arrives in cinemas on June 19.
